Naturaleza Muerta (FKA 36 Days of Type)

Naturaleza Muerta (Still Life) was an attempt to take part of the '36 Days of Type' challenge in its tenth edition. Due to diverse circumstances, it was impossible for me to complete the challenge during the 36 days last year, but instead of feeling demotivated and quitting, I took it as an opportunity to run a purely experimental exercise; an exploration exempt of any creative, formal and legibility scrutiny.

The foundation of this typographic experiment was to combine and to interpret abstractedly some of my favorite topics: brutalist architecture, progressive line work, nature a.k.a. flowers and plants (exercises were born from flower's names in Spanish, full list of names could be found in Instagram, and flower's color schemes and/or shapes were taken as references) and mostly idle abstraction. Either way the pillar concept I focused on was to recreate the lighting of Still Life artwork and as the 'project' was evolving I also experimented with other kinds of  lighting, one option that affects the objects as in the 'blue hour', and for the second one, objects were affected by a hard electric blue lighting.

At the end, I created a pixelated typography (based on Everett typeface from Weltkern Foundry) just to reinforce the idea that all the bulks were created from a typeface.

If you have read the description to this point, I'd appreciate your thoughts about the project, it was not easy to finish but I am proud of being able to finally publish it.
